According to an article in The Journal, the Normandy hotel, restaurant, and bar is scheduled to be renovated to restore some of its historic style. Located across the street from the Portland Tower condos in downtown Minneapolis, the Normandy Inn & Suites is expected to be under renovation for a few months, beginning in April of 2016.

Many of the changes date back to the hotel and restaurant’s opening in 1925. The renovated restaurant will feature some of the original hotel’s 14-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows. The bar will have living room-style seating and an extended countertop for an espresso bar. Exterior changes include stripping away the stucco and other improvements, to reveal the original red brick.

This project is just the latest in a series of exciting developments in the Downtown East area, and we are certain that Portland Tower residents will appreciate this fine, historic “addition” to the neighborhood!
