Dozens of reporters were led through the massive structure today as U.S. Bank Stadium has officially hit the 90% completion mark. Two thirds of the purple stadium seats are in place, giant video boards are now officially installed, and some of the concessions, suites and clubs are also finished. Drainage for the field is also being installed right now. Asphalt is expected to hit the ground in April and it’s said that they’ll start rolling out the turf in early May.
The remaining seats will be completely installed by April 8th. The general superintendent, Dave Mansell, was quoted saying, “we’re right on track for where we want to be”. Which is reassuring to Vikings fans everywhere.
“The stadium is the largest public-private project in state history. Team owners Mark and Zygi Wilf asre paying about half the cost, with taxpayers paying $498 million.” (Star Tribune)
The new home for the Vikings, which is about double the size of the old Metrodome, has a target completion date of July 15th. We can’t wait to be able to walk over to the game from The Portland Tower!
